Mindfulness and you
What is mindfulness:
Simply means "living in the moment" (1)
Components of mindfulness (2):
- It is about being aware of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment.
- It's about not getting affected by what is going around us.
- You dissociate with past and future
- It is about acceptance, without judging your thoughts
Origin:
It is rooted in Hindu and Buddhist teachings. It dates back about 2500 years (3). It is nothing but one aspect of meditation (4).
How do you do it:
In simple terms, you sit in a relaxed posture, breathe gently, and pay attention to it. Let your thoughts wander, whether good or bad without judging them. Try to come back from the wandering thoughts by focusing on your breath (5).
"RELAX & FOCUS ON YOUR BREATH"
Feel the air going in through your nostril and moving out. The moment you focus on this, the train of thoughts will stop.
When to do it and how long:
You can do it any time, but the morning is preferable.

It has been found to reduce anxiety and alleviate stress
