Beat the blues: taking care of your emotional health

Taking care of your emotional health

Women are more likely to diagnosed  for depression and anxiety as compared to men.

As per the mayo clinic, the following are the reasons:

1. Hormonal changes, that happen during puberty, pregnancy, postpartum and menopause.

2. Life circumstances and culture

    - Inequality & social pressures

    - Workload due to the responsibility at home as well as outside

    - Sexual or physical abuse

3. There are also other associated conditions like anxiety, eating disorders, and drugs/alcohol misuse.

Tackling the problem:

1. Don't ignore the elephant in the room- first and the most important step is to accept that there is a problem.

2. Identify the problem

3. Make time to relax and reduce stress. Meditation and yoga can be extremely helpful.

4. Seek help from a friend or family member.

5. Take professional help when the above does not work.

So, the mantra is   Recognize - Act- Seek help
